A hidden gem: Georgia, country not the state

Georgia was a complete surprise..such a beautiful mix of the East and the West. The most magnificent thing about it is the way the city has been preserved for centuries and still boasts a very metropolis feel…a beautiful amalgamation of old and new. Georgia has a long history and is the second country on earth to have adopted Christianity as a state religion in the 4th century. Religion is still alive and is evident in the beautifully preserved churches, few dating back to the 6th century. People are truly hospitable and celebrate their food and wine like nobody else. Khachapuri, a cheese filled bread, along with the most amazing Georgian red wine, still leaves me salivating! Day trips to one of the oldest working monastery…
